Recruiting the right workers is essential to the success of any business. And with a recent industry report showing a reduced rate of growth in UK manufacturing, finding the right people is more important now than ever.
According to the most recent IHS Markit/CIPS Manufacturing PMI, April saw overall manufacturing production increase for the 21st month in a row. Companies across the country saw higher intakes of new business, stronger client confidence and rises in employment levels (specifically in the intermediate and investment goods sectors).
However this growth slowed down compared to previous months, and due to the slower rate of output expansion, the consumer goods sector saw its first job cuts since February 2017. So while the industry may have continued to grow overall, the subdued rise in activity has undoubtedly had its impact on the industry.
Why is it so important to focus on recruitment?
During times of uncertainty, making sure you have the right people on your workforce is essential.
Activity may slow down, but production will never come to a complete halt. Once you start to receive larger orders again, you will need the confidence that you can keep up with demand and fulfill orders on time. Having the right staff in place is the most important factor in ensuring this.
